We're all about initiatives like these. How do we get thousands upon thousands of children into the tech supply chain? From Fred Wilson's blog:
"... Mayor de Blasio announced Computer Science For All which is a ten year effort to train 4,775 NYC public school teachers on the fundamentals of computer science and how to teach it to their students. The goal of Computer Science For All is to have computer science teachers and classes in every one of the 1,700 NYC public schools within ten years."
In his blog post Fred Wilson talks about a few ways in which you can get involved:
- Support CSNYC (more info in the blog post) which is partnering with NYC to get this initiative launched and sustainable over the next 10 years.
- Volunteer your time to teach computer science. He specifically mentions two ways of doing that with ScriptEd and TEALS.
- Join meetups.
