Data Isn’t Everything

We’ll start the work week (hopefully you had Memorial Day off) with a link to an interview with Harper Reed, who, though he looks like a lumberjack from Maine or maybe a UX designer in Portland, actually earned his rep as CTO to President Obama during the 2012 election campaign.

Reed makes the point that the reliance on data, while hugely important, should not be used as gospel when making every decision. He points to the rise of Donald Trump, who people have continually predicted to flounder.

It’s a good interview, and telling that Reed has since left politics to focus on PayPal and mobile phone commerce. Even more telling is his closing comment, when asked if he’ll ever return to politics: “No dude! No more politics! It’s horrible.”

Maybe so, but makes for a great interview. Check it out.
