For July our focus will be:
"Products & Emotions" (R03), this examines the emotional effect our products have on our customers and what ultimately drives customer loyalty and demand.
Because people typically want to engage in positive experiences and to stay away from negative experiences, as a product designer, focusing your energy on "experience design" may significantly increase in the value and interest level of a product or service. The designing of an experience may hold an equal priority to designing the technology itself.
We will start by examining some of the efforts being undertaken to develop a paradigm that promotes moving from a material based economy to an experience based economy (where the emotional experience of the product is perceived as more valuable).
This month's guest speaker, Joe Erpelding, Principal of Poway School District's new D39 public school, shepherds students from preschool through junior high using an educational philosophy that bridges technology, global thinking, the arts, and the human experience. The school's emphasis on out-of-the-box thinking and its integration with technology makes Hoe and his team a great match with 7CTOs for this month's module.
